Panaji: Confederation of Indian Industry-Goa has launched a regional culinary institute in partnership with Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL Education Group), Switzerland, and a vocational education and training (VET) Swiss professional diploma programme with Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL).

The culinary institute will train students specifically in Goan, Maharashtrian, Bengali, North-East, Rajasthani, and Hyderabadi cooking. It aims to create local talent from Goa to be skilled and placed in jobs in India and abroad. The VET programme is of 18 months duration. It assures 100% job placement and will train youth for careers in the hospitality industry as well as airlines, cruise lines, catering and travel industry. The two initiatives are expected to train and provide jobs to 5,000 youth in three years and up-skill 1,000 international chefs in regional Indian cuisine, said CII.
