Guidelines for Engineering courses in Technical Textiles to be released soon New Delhi, July 21 (KNN) Centre to soon release the new guidelines developed for the introduction of new degree courses in Technical Textile in engineering colleges, said the ministry of textiles in an official statement.

The ministry under the new guidelines will aim to provide financial assistance up to Rs. 15 Crore to the educational institutes meeting the set eligibility criteria. This is return will help to boost the technical textiles and ensure availability of skilled manpower.

Along with development of a new degree course there will also be an upgradation of the existing courses with the introduction of new papers of Technical Textiles.

The new guidelines will also include the upgradation of the laboratory infrastructure involving revamping the existing infrastructure, setting-up of New Laboratory Equipment facilities, and Training of trainers and faculty members across different application areas of Technical Textiles.

Technical textiles have contributed heavily in productivity improvement, public safety, cost reduction and durability of infrastructure projects, environment protection and improvements in living standards of citizens in the developed countries.

India has nearly 6 percent of world market size of 250 billion USD. Penetration level of technical textiles is low in India at 5-10 percent as against 30-70 percent in advanced countries. The aim is to improve the penetration level of technical textiles in the country. (KNN Bureau)
