Defence exports record Rs 13,000 cr in FY22, to reach Rs 50K cr by 2025 Lucknow, Aug 29 (KNN) Eight years back, our defence exports were about Rs 800 crore, today we have hit Rs 13,000 crore target by exporting defence items and technology, said Defence minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday.

While addressing an event at his Lucknow Lok Sabha constituency, the defence minister said that India will reach a defence exports target of nearly Rs 40,000 crore to Rs 50,000 crore by 2025.

He reiterated the Prime Minister’s vision of self-reliance in defence. “Our PM decided that it was time we stopped purchasing all missiles, aircrafts and fighter planes from other countries. We used to spend a fortune in purchasing them,” he said.

The Indian government is taking various initiatives to make the country’s borders safe. Projects worth Rs 100 lakh crore have been initiated for the same.

Singh also highlighted that the country’s growing global might is increasing and that it was evident during the Russia-Ukraine war. “On PM Modi’s intervention, the two warring nations agreed to halt strikes to allow the rescue of stranded students to India,” he added.

During his visit, the minister also visited the Kotwaleshwar Shiva temple in the old city. (KNN Bureau)
