Aeronautical Society of India to mentor startups at AISC Bengaluru, July 15 (KNN) The Aeronautical Society of India (AeSI) Bengaluru branch will launch its Aero Innovation and Skill Centre (AISC) on July 16 to mentor start-ups.

The primary objective of AeSI is to catalyse the entire defence start-up ecosystem through the available resources and contacts of the organisation. Around 15-20 startups working in the aerospace and aviation sectors have been shortlisted for mentorship.

AISC will act as an innovation lab for MSMEs, startups, and academia. It will provide the necessary technological support as well as impart advanced skill-training programmes required by the start-ups to achieve their goals.

Addressing the media, AeSI Bengaluru’s convener P Mueen Khan said, "AISC will facilitate aspiring entrepreneurs and start-ups to come forward and carry out research and development and build products and solutions which will be put forward for acceptance to the defence agencies."

"We will facilitate the interaction between the start-ups and the defence agencies. Drones will be one of our major focus areas since their application in medical services, agriculture and security is vast, "Former Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO) scientist Srinivasan K V said.

Through this initiative, approximately 1 to 1.5 million jobs will be created in the aerospace and defence sector over the next 10 years.

AISC aspires to make India the innovation hub in emerging aviation and aerospace technologies by democratising innovation, conceptualising ideas, design standardisation and support, proof of concept and prototyping of ideas, and involving academia and industry. (KNN Bureau)
